Statistical Tests of the Validation of TCO Satellite Measurements, Recorded Simultaneously by TOMS-OMI (2005) and OMI-OMPS (2012-2018)

Two statistical validation methods were used to evaluate the confidence level of Total Column Ozone (TCO) measurements recorded by satellite systems measuring simultaneously, one using normal distribution and another Mann-Whitney test. First, reliability TCO was studied hemispherically. While similar coincidences levels significance > 0.05 found with two tests, an enormous variability in throughout year also exposed. Then, same comparison methods, a latitudinal study carried out order elucidate geographical that gave rise this variability. Our reveals between TOMS OMI 2005 there only coincidence 50% latitudes, which explained This implies for 2005, are not completely reliable, except -50° -15° latitude band southern hemisphere +15° +50° northern hemisphere. In case OMI-OMPS, we observe 2011 2016 both reasonably higher than 95%. However, 2017 width 20° centered on equator appeared, much less 0.05, indicating measurement had begun fail. 2018, fault located equator, but replicated various bands Southern Hemisphere. We interpret as evidence irreversible failure systems.
